Tideswell, Derbyshire – Monday 18th November 2019

1700z   CALM 50km 2Ci250 +00.1/-01.2 1017
RMK:   A fine day with long sunny spells after the
early cloud dispersed. We clocked up 6.6 hours of
sun, not bad for the time of year. The first of the
approaching frontal cirrus is now appearing to the
west. Max temp 6.6° but it’s falling very quickly now.
There’s already a frost on the grass and cars. Some
roads still have water running onto them after the
recent rain. A hard frost tonight could result in
some very icy stretches.

RMK:   A dry morning with the cloud gradually breaking.
Occasional sunny intervals are developing, the first
we’ve seen of the sun since a few glimpses last
Wednesday.

third consecutive completely sunless day. Total sun

of the 2009-2018 average for the whole month of
November. Rainfall for the first 15 days of the
month is 159.7 mm which is 120% of the average for the
whole month. Mean temp for the first 15 days of the
month is 4.6° which is 1.3° below the average for the

RMK:   Slight to moderate sleet all afternoon. Turned
heavy in the past few minutes and getting close to
snow now as the temp falls quickly. It has fallen
from 2.7° to 2.1° in the past 30 minutes. Max temp 3.9°

1200z   34017g29kt 4000 RASN 7Sc008 03.8/02.7 999
RMK:   Slight rain turned to moderate sleet around 1030z.
It’s an absolutely foul day now. Only about 3 mm since
0900z but it probably won’t take too much to start
causing more problems. The A623 Chesterfield to
Stockport road was closed a few miles from here earlier
this morning (don’t know if it has been reopened yet)
because of a rockfall. I wouldn’t be surprised if the
recent heavy rain was a contributory factor. The
stretch of road concerned is overhung by sheer
limestone cliffs so it may not be the easiest problem
to solve.

0900z   34015g26kt 15km -RA 5Sc008 8Sc040 03.8/02.7 998
